the cutest elephant in the world!

so, the other night i called glenn from work, and he told me mattie was imitating animal noises...just not the ones i was expecting.

we have been making dog and cat sounds for awhile now because we have these animals at home and mattie sees them often. she used to make a noise that sounded like a bark when she saw the dogs, but has stopped doing it. mattie has a noah's ark playset that she's very interested in these days. when i play with her i try to say the name of each animal she picks up and make its sound. (kinda difficult to make a giraffe or zebra sound - any suggestions?) the lion's roar has always elicted the best reaction from her...

mattie also has a picture of noah's ark in her room, and lately we've been showing it to her, pointing out the animals. glenn said when he was doing this the other evening, he roared like a lion...and she roared back! she also tried to mimic his impression of an elephant. now, glenn does a great elephant, complete with the raising of a "trunk". mattie raised her arm, too. i so wish i could have seen it!
